DSC_0315

Just like lots of Americans last weekend, Paula Nelson spent the 4th of July with her dad and family, and she brought her band! Paula sang her original songs, and also honored Waylon Jennings and Mickey Newberry, and sang their songs, from the band’s album, “Under the Influence”. That album is available at CDBaby website, along with her earlier albums, too. Collect them all!

Landis Armstrong, master of the stratocaster, it’s phenomenal to watch him play guitar.

And sorry, only a tiny view of Matt Eskey on bass but he was there.

Life Magazine

“I guess I’m still playing cowboys and Indians,” says Willie Nelson here in Colorado with his tribe (from top) Connie, 39, Paula, 13; and Amy; 10. “I love to hang out in the tepee and climb the mountains around here. There’s a million places to be alone in the woods and I need that occasionally.” Nelson moved his family from Texas in 1977 “To get ’em out of the line of fire a little bit,” when his growing popularity made made quiet time with the family difficult.

Janis Tillerson drove from Dallas to Houston tonight after she taught school, to see Paula Nelson receive the Female Artist of the Year award from the Country Music Association of Texas in Houston tonight. And she kindly shared these photos from the event, and a video!

Thank you, Janis Tillerson, for sharing your video, so late at night, from Houston. Drive safely, my friend.

Paula’s birthday was yesterday, and the crowd celebrated by singing Happy Birthday, and cake for everyone.

“Two of my favorite Beauties: Paula Nelson and her precious mom, Connie. Paula, Willie’s daughter, is an award-winning vocalist — Connie has been my super pal for decades (No … she’s not old, never will be). I’ve never met a more caring individual. She’s always there if a friend is ill or having problems. When our good pal Ray Price was in failing health, Connie made daily calls of sincere concern. When he passed away, she made a solo trip from Austin to pay her respect for him, was one of the first to arrive at the church (just an example of many similar acts of respect and love). Both of these ladies reflect true warmth and realism. To know them is to love them.”

Rest in Peace, Bradley (8.01.1998 – 11.12.2015)

So sad to hear that Paula Nelson’s dog Bradley has passed away.   He was so sweet.  I got to hang out with him during a couple of Paula and her band’s shows here in Colorado, and fell in love.  He was one of a kind.  He was so protective of Paula.   He would watch her walk up on stage, and watch her entire show.  Her biggest fan, and she was his.

“It breaks my heart to bring this news….I lost my best friend Bradley this morning. He was my everything. Words cannot describe my sadness. But he left this world peacefully and he will always be in my heart and watching over me.

Love you my Bradley

Bradley came to Colorado on every tour, even in the winter. He never complained, either. Paula shopped and made sure he had warm clothes.
