It was a Happy New Year’s Eve Eve in Austin with Willie Nelson and Family (Dec. 30, 2013)

Paula Nelson and my nephews
The Paula Nelson Band is touring in Colorado this month, and my three nephews and some friends went to see the band at their Longmont show. I missed that show, I was hanging out with Paula’s dog Bradley (who had a hard time at the concert the night before; see video below), but my friend Eddie kindly sent these photos of Paula and the guys. It’s not their first time seeing her; they love her. The boys and their friends had so much fun at the show. I think she has spoiled them for other women, though.
And here’s Paula and the band singing, “Have You Ever Seen the Rain”, from the show in Lyons, Colorado. Paula’s dog Bradley, who usually enjoys the shows quietly, joined in on the song. Maybe he was joining in to sing Wilie’s part.

Paula Nelson Band in Colorado
The Paula Nelson band played at the Larimer Lounge last night, in Denver.
Check out the band’s new album, ‘Under the Influence’, which is complete, and will be ready to purchase and/or down load soon, next month, I think. The band is on tour here in Colorado and promise when they get home, they will make it available for fans to buy.
They have been singing songs from the album on this tour, and they are fantastic. I love when Paula sings her own tunes, written from her own life’s experiences, but I love this album of their covers of songs that has influenced them over the course of their lives. It’s hard to imagine anyone taking on these classic songs, but they really offer their own traditional but unique rendition of the songs. The band’s version of Willie Nelson’s, “I Never Cared for You” is hauntingly beautiful, with Paula’s voice, and Landis’ guitar playing. It’s like Willie wrote it for Paula to sing. The whole album is a great collection of songs by Waylon Jennings, Newberry, Dire Straits, Leon Russell, and more.

Paula Nelson arrested for possession of marijuana and jailed in Texas overnight; Buy a copy of her new cd, “Under the Influence” to celebrate that her band bailed her out!
Something was off, way way off in the universe yesterday, because Paula Nelson got arrested after a traffic stop in Menard, Texas last night, and charged with possession of marijuana. It’s a misdemeanor. Kevin Lance snapped this picture of the officer making Texas safer by handcuffing the sweet Paula Nelson. Ours is a world gone mad. Paula spent the night in jail, because I guess in a small town there is no one available to arraign you or set bail at night, and in the morning she bonded out and returned home with her band.
Anyway, I’m not going to dwell or wallow in how mad and sad I feel about the whole thing. I am going to shake it off by buying another copy of the Paula Nelson Band’s new album, “Under the Influence.” Join me and turn the bad to good; if you already have a copy, buy a copy for a friend. Let’s turn this negative yucky incident into something positive.
And high profile arrests like arresting Willie Nelson’s daughter helps the decriminalize marijuana movement, and moves the ball forward towards the goal. More normal people read about this craziness and think, ‘This is crazy. Maybe it is time to legalize it.” But I hate that it is nice people like Paula who have to take one for the team. :(
I talked to Paula tonight, she’s in good spirits. She is sincerely okay and does not want anyone to worry about her. Her mom was upset, of course, until Paula and Bradley got home safe and sound. Amy and her dad took it lighter and could laugh about it from the beginning. Willie told Connie, “Well, she’s going to get a new outfit out of it.” And when Paula called her mom from the jail, first thing Paula told her, “Well, I got a new outfit out of it. ”
We love you, Paula.

Paula Nelson talks about getting arrested
Paula Nelson was arrested after a search of her van during a traffic stop revealed marijuana. Paula and the band were in hour 14 of the drive home to Texas from a show in Pueblo, Colorado. Paula ended up spending the night in jail, before her band and her dog Bradley could bail her out. She posted this on her FaceBook page:
“I want to make sure that everyone knows i am not bad mouthing the officers involved in my arrest. I know they were just doing their jobs.. And they were very nice about it.. It would have been better had they smiled and let me go on my way home. But they don’t make the laws. That is where we come in.. Speak up on “Legalizing” where it counts the most in your state. It’s “bad people” who make “bad cops” not the police as a whole.
Like i said all of the “people of the law” i met during my 4/20 adventure were great and i’m better for meeting them. I made good friends in that police station. I’ve noticed a lot negative police comments.. I assure you the people I met involved were class act folks And again i thank them for being so kind AND the great publicity for the new Cd “Under The Influence xoxoox” – Paula Nelson
